Newsletter for January 2012

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a very happy and healthy holiday season. For this months newsletter we are going to touch on a variety of subjects, we hope you enjoy it.

rabies tag  Licensing Your Pet

Wisconsin state law requires that all dogs be vaccinated against rabies by the time the dog reaches 5 months of age. This correlates with the requirement that all dogs be licensed at 5 months of age. Proof of current rabies vaccine is required in order for an owner to obtain a dog license. Although state law requires that all dogs be vaccinated against rabies and licensed yearly, many municipalities also require that cats be vaccinated and licensed yearly. For more information you can contact the town/village that you live in.

snowflake  "The Importance of Yearly Visits"

With the new year starting we just wanted to remind everyone how important it is to bring your pet in to visit the veterinarian at least once a year. Yearly vaccinations are a very important part of your pets well being, and during the routine yearly check up your veterinarian can discuss any problems or concerns that you may have. Senior pets should be seen every 6 to 12 months to have an exam to answer any questions you may have and/or check bloodwork to make sure he/she is healthy. Also, if your pet is on medication he/she will need to have a bloodtest every 6-12 months to check for any changes so we can make sure we are giving your pet the proper medication. If you need to make an appointment call us at 262-284-7000 or email us at pets@saukvillevet.com.

pic  We are sad to tell everyone that Dr. Stephani has decided to go back to her hometown clinic where she was a tech before going to school to become a veterinarian. She will be missed.

Introducing...

We would like to introduce our new doctor to you. Dr. Stefanie DeJardin, DVM joined our team December 16th. She graduated from the University of Madison in 2010. Her veterinary interests include diagnostic imaging, reproduction and parasitology. Outside of the clinic she loves spending time with her 1 year old son Gipper, husband Adam, and their energetic Lab/Pointer mix named Raiden. Her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, rock climbing, and traveling. She and her husband hope to restore an old hobby farm one day.
