| There are many diseases that are common and harmful to your dog. Thankfully, many are preventable. During the first day of nursing, many puppies will receive some immunity to these diseases. However, the protection is gradually reduced between 6 and 16 weeks of age. Your puppy should be immunized several times during this period because their immune system isn’t as strong as it should be. Remember that some diseases can be carried into your house on your hands, shoes, or clothing. Rodents, wild animals, and some other dogs can also carry these diseases. Even if your dog is not in contact with other dogs, he or she is still at risk.
This is the health program that we recommend:

- First Distemper vaccine (DHLPPC). This includes Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus and Corona virus all in one injection.
- Start heartworm prevention
- Discuss flea and tick prevention.
Second Visit and Exam (done at approximately 9-12 weeks of age):
- Second DHLPPC vaccine
- Recheck a stool sample for parasites if any were previously present
