Careful monitoring and care following your pet’s procedure can help with a smooth recovery.
On arrival home from the hospital, do not allow your pet to eat or drink for at least 2 hours. Animals are usually very excited and tend to gorge themselves which may lead to vomiting.
Keep your pet as clean and dry as possible. Do not bathe or allow your pet to swim for at least 2 weeks.
Inspect the surgical site twice a day. Notify the doctor if you see any bleeding, discharge or swelling. If excessive licking occurs, please return for a special collar to prevent licking.
Notify the doctor if your pet seems depressed, isn’t eating or drinking, or is vomiting.
Allow no free running for 10-14 days. For dogs, leash walk only.
