Preparation for surgery/ day of surgery

• Prior to an elective surgical procedure your pet needs to have recommended vaccinations up to date.
•A current Rabies vaccination is required of all pets having surgery.
• Withhold food and water after midnight (12:00 A.M.) the evening prior to surgery.
• Bring your pet to the clinic between 8:00 and 9:00 A.M. the morning of surgery.
• The receptionist will ask if you would like a preanesthetic blood test performed to determine the metabolic status of your pet prior to surgery. (Sometimes this blood work has been done ahead of time.)
• At the time of check-in discuss elective options you might want to have taken care of while your pet is in the clinic such as nail trim, ear cleaning, microchip placement, anal gland expression etc.
• Please call us in early afternoon for an update and approximate discharge time.
